Inventory what you have
List the application, database, files, scheduled jobs, and third-party connections. Migration is smoother when nothing important is discovered late.
Move in phases
Start with a staging copy, then shift traffic when backups, monitoring, and a rollback plan are in place. A weekend “lift and hope” is rarely the safest path.
Watch cost and access
Cloud bills grow when unused servers stay on and too many people have admin access. Set alerts and limit who can change production.
Prove it works
Test logins, payments, file uploads, and reports after the move. Migration is finished only when the team can operate the new environment confidently.
